Depth of Field

Shallow
This photo has a shallow depth of field.
The focal point is one branch of the plant.
This picture demonstrates a shallow depth of field because its focused on one thing & the rest is blurry.
I think the photographers purpose was to use shallow depth of field so you can focus just on one piece if the flower.

This photo has a shallow depth of field.
The focal point is the rose.
I think this demonstrates shallow depth of field because one thing is in focus only.
I think the photographers purpose was to just have the rose in focus with the rest of the leafs blurry.

This photo has a shallow depth of field.
The focal point is the glass cup.
I think this demonstrates shallow depth of field because only the glass cup is clear.
I think the photographers purpose was to only keep the glass cup on focus.

Large
This photo is a large depth of field.
The focal point is the whole view.
I think this represents large depth of field because it show everything its not focused on one thing.
I think the photographers purpose was to show how the view looked.

This photo is a large depth of field.
The focal point is all the trees.
I think this represents large depth of field because it shows a good view of everything.
I think the photographers purpose was to show the trees lined up & all the flowers & the sky.

This photo is a large depth of field.
The focal point is the view of the beach.
I think this represents large depth of field because its not focused on one thing.
I think the photographers purpose was to show how the whole view looks.

Panning

One Person Walking
1. I was in front of the 200 building when i took this picture.
2. I had problems trying to get her face in focus.
3. This was the best shot because i was able to get her face in focus.
4. I tried a shutter speed of 1/50 & it didn't work because she wasn't on focus so i lowered it to 1/25 & it worked better.
5. I think it would be better if her feet weren't so blurry.

One Person Running
1. I was in front of the 200 building when i took this picture.
2. I didn't really have problems taking this picture.
3. This was my best shot because the other ones were more blurry.
4. For this one i had a low shutter speed so i raised it up & it looked better.
5. What could be improved in this picture is the feet if they weren't so blurry.

Multiple People Running
1. I was in front of the 200 building when i took this picture.
2. I had problems in trying to get them both in focus.
3. this was the best shot because they weren't both that blurry.
4. I tried a low f/stop & the picture didn't look so good so then i raised it up a little & it looked good.
5. I think the focus could be improved a bit.

Vehicle Moving
 1. I was in the back parking lot when i took this picture.
2. I had problems trying to get a picture when the back was in good blur & he was in focus.
3. This one was good because he was in focus & the back was blurry.
4. The setting i used were a shutter speed of 1/20 & an f/stop of 8 & it was good.
5. What could be improved is maybe to get him more in focus.

Vehicle Moving #2
1. I was in the parking lot in the back when i took this.
2. I had problems with trying to get a picture of his face in it.
3. This was the best shot because the car was in focus & so was the body.
4. The settings i used was a shutter speed of 1/30 & it worked but i had to keep making it lower & higher until i got this picture.
5. I think i could improve in getting his face in the picture.

Shutter Speed Exercises

Stop Action Jumping
1. When i took this picture i was in front of the library.
2. I had problems getting her whole body.
3. This shot was the best because it wasn't blurry & she was in the air.
4. The other settings i used that didn't work was lower shutter speed & higher f stop they didn't work because the picture would not capture it at the moment i wanted.
5. what could be improved is getting the whole body.

Stop Action Running
1. When i took this picture i was in front of the library.
2. I really didn't have a problem getting this picture.
3. This was a good shot because it wasn't blurry & you could see she was running.
4. The settings i used to capture this picture was a shutter speed of 1/640 & and an f stop f/4 which worked well.
5. What could improve in this picture is maybe getting closer.

Stop Action Dropping/ Falling items
1. I was in front of the library when i took this.
2. I had problems catching the leafs in the air.
3. This was the best shot because the leaf was actually in the air.
4. The setting i used was i had a slow shutter speed which made it difficult for me to catch the leaf in the air.
5. What could be improved in this picture is if the leaf was higher in the air.
Motion Blur Running
1. I was by the vending machines when i took this picture.
2. I had problems getting the bodies more blurry.
3. This shot was the best because it had some blur in it & the rest didn't.
4.The settings i used was an f stop of 7.1 & a shutter speed of 1/20 of a sec & i think i should've used a slower shutter speed.
5. What could improve is getting more blur.

Motion Blur Action
1. I was by the 200 building when i took this picture.
2. I didn't really have problems taking this picture.
3.This was the best shot because the leafs are blurry & the plant was still.
4. The settings i used was an f stop of 6.3 & a shutter speed of 1/10 which came out to be good for me.
5. What could improve is maybe getting the whole plant.

Framing

Man-Made
I think this photo works as man-made because its a bulding that was built it didnt happen naturally & it works as framing because the lights frame the top & the walls frame the sides & it leads to a door.

I think this picture works as man made because its a wall & the lines of the fence lead to the walls that were man-made & it works as framing because the fence frames the wall.

Natural
I think this picture works as natural because it plant's that grow naturally & the frame is also plants so that works for framing.

I think this picture works as natural because its a plant & the leaves create a frame & then it leads to the middle of the plant witht he sky behind.

Architectural
I think this picture works for architectural because it poles which weren't probably man-made that are on the Q-hut on top & their made of medal & they work for framing because they frame the middle part were the medals poles lead to.

I think this picture works for architectural because it a bending machine which to me is an architectural thing & it works for framing because the fence frames the food inside.

2. The most challenging part was finding the difference between architectural & man-made it was confusing & it was a little hard to find things that framed something . I overcame this challenge by looking around & looking for angles that would help me frame something.

Pattern

Man-Made

I think this picture works for patterns because it has patterns of circles different sizes big & small & also a pattern of the lines crossing i took this picture from above looking down at a plastic carpet.

I think this picture works because it has a pattern of the diagonal lines in the fence & also the lines that are vertical make a pattern i took this picture from the top of the fence looking down.

Natural
I think this picture is a good picture for patterns because it has a little trail of leafs which make a pattern in a line & i took this picture looking straight foward to the leafs & i got closer to the ground.

I think this picture is a good picture for patterns because it has a pattern of the leafs with a straight line in the middle & the leafs are different sizes & i took this picture looking straight to the leafs i just got really close.

Improve
I think that in this picture i need to improve in the angle i take the picture because in this picture the sun caused my picture to get a really bright light which makes my picture look white.

Well
I think this picture was a good picture because there a pattern of the bubbles in the water & there's different sizes & i like how the sky reflect on the water & it looks like sky & water in the back & i like how it got closer so you couldn't see the dry parts of the concrete .

For our next project, my goal is to try to get good pictures & i'm going to try to find more ways of getting a better angle so the sun or other things dont ruin my picture im going to archieve this goal by taking more than one picture of the same thing to see what picture looks better.

Angles

Above

Below

I like this shot the most because I like how the hand is random & then it's the sky in the back & i like how the sky looks it makes the hand standout.

Straight

Leading Lines
In this picture i used leading lines by the fence that was there i just put the hand in between the fence & then the fence was holding the hand & i took the picture from above & then it came out with the lines leading to the hand.

Improve

I think i need to improve on moving the camera in a position where i crop the things i dont want to show in the picture so i only have the things i want like in this picture the back i could've put the camera lower & closer.

3. The most challenging part of this assignment was trying to see ways of taking a lot of different pictures of  one object it was hard because i didnt want all my pictures to look the same.

Lines

  Diagonal

I think this is the strongest shot because the diagonal line leads you to the plant & it makes the plant standout.

This is an example of an environmental line its naturally making a diagonal line by the tree that's growing the techniques i used was i was kinda far from the tree & i took it looking straight at the tree.

Horizontal

I think this one is the strongest shot because it focuses on the horizontal lines made by the plant & it has a leave on the side that stands out out because its red & its bright.

Vertical

The techniques i used to take this picture was i was standing & i looked up & i too a picture of the ceiling because it had vertical lines & the plants were growing on it.

I think this one is the strongest shot because it's focused in the plant which makes vertical lines & then the back is kinda blurred out & its pretty.

4. The most challenging part of this assignment was looking at good ways to take the picture to make it interesting. I overcame this challenge by trying to look at different ways to take the picture the position of things.

5.On thing Mr. Peterson can do to help improve this experience is maybe letting us go farther other than being in the same spot.

6.One thing i can do to improve my experience is i could try to see how many ways & pictures you can take of one thing to make it more interesting.
